About John & Blue Jay

I began my career in the remodeling trades in 1992, working with a master builder at Cronin Construction. We did restoration work on older plantation style homes in Northern Florida. Starting at the bottom, I spent most of my first year unloading lumber, swinging a hammer and doing job site organization and clean up. For the next five years I was schooled in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, plaster and tile. And I learned layout and design for turn-of-the-century homes.

The second phase of my building career I went back to the basics. I worked for Cinque Construction, framing spec houses from the ground up. This experience gave me the full working knowledge of how the foundation and the frame of a home come together.

The third phase of my career I worked as the Maintenance and Remodeling Supervisor for a town home community. As tenants moved out, we would remodel each unit and then put them up for sale. This experience gave me the tools to organize the scope and flow of projects. From ordering materials to scheduling subcontractors to walking clients through the finished product, I did it all from start to finish.

After gaining the confidence to do it all, I went out on my own. Working as a sub-contractor for Trudeau Construction, I did all the punch list items for new homes. This gave me insight into where mistakes are made by builders and how to avoid making the same mistakes on my projects.

In the early 2000’s I moved to California and received my General Contractors B License. Starting with bathrooms and kitchens, we’ve expanded our scope of work in the last 20 years to include full additions, ADU’s, basement excavations, large scale foundations and complete renovations.

Whatever project you are intending, we have the experience and dedication to make your dream a reality.
