WHERE TO START

Do you need an architect or structural engineer?

First, we’ll determine whether your project would benefit from the expertise of an Architect, Structural Engineer, Interior/Landscape Designer or other licensed professional to help realize your vision. We can collaborate with someone you’re already working with — or you can use our team.

What does an Architect bring to the project?
In addition to being responsible for the design of the project, the architect’s first priority is to determine if the project is viable. The architect can tell you if the size, type and location are suitable for your property (based on your local planning and building departments’ regulations).
If your design meets the local building department’s standards, then the architect along with your contractor can walk you through different design scenarios that fit your vision.
Once a design is approved, the architect will take the design through the planning and building department reviews and ultimately get you a permit for your project.

What does a Structural Engineer bring to the project?
In some cases, there is a structural element (roof line changes, headers for larger windows, new foundations or framing components) to a new building or remodeling project. If that’s the case, we enlist a structural engineer to provide specific drawings based on the architectural design of your project.

What else might enhance your project?
You might want to consult an Interior Designer or Landscape Architect during your project to anticipate how the finishing touches of your vision come together.
Interior/Exterior Designers can be valuable to help with tile and countertop selections, cabinetry, flooring options, finish plumbing and electrical choices, and paint colors.
Landscape Designers/Architects can help create a welcoming experience to a project with input on pavers, foliage, fences, decks and much more.
