Lower Potrero, El Cerrito
From Cramped Spaces to Wide-Open Places For this project, we completely transformed the flow of the home by removing all the interior walls that previously divided the living room, kitchen, dining area, and family room. By opening these spaces, we created a seamless, interconnected environment where each area feels expansive and inviting. Once the walls were down, we took it a step further by structurally reframing the ceilings with recessed beams, giving the entire space a modern, airy feel that emphasizes openness and sophistication.
To complement the open design, we added new windows and a sliding door, allowing natural light to flood the area, brightening every corner and enhancing the sense of space. The new kitchen was built with functionality in mind, designed to flow effortlessly into the dining area, creating the perfect space for both cooking and gathering.
We completed the transformation by updating the entire upper level with fresh paint, new lighting, and upgraded flooring, tying the whole area together. The result is a unified, harmonious space that’s not only stylish but also incredibly functional — a welcoming atmosphere that’s perfect for family life and entertaining.
